Itchy Scalp Blues & What To Do If You Have The Itch

Do you battle an itchy scalp 2 days after washing your hair? You're not alone and I've suffered from this my entire life. One of the secrets to having healthy hair is not washing it frequently to retain the natural oils of your scalp and allow it to nourish your beautiful locks. But how do you go longer than 2 days between washes when you're plagued by the terrible itching?

Itchy scalp is most commonly caused by dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis), dry skin, or reactions to hair products. If you've been battling the itch and don't believe you're having a reaction to hair products or have a medical condition like scalp psoriasis, you might just benefit from the tea I'm about to spill.

I always recommend checking with a doctor or cosmetologist for recommendations and for a lice inspection if you suspect that may be the culprit.

My own personal experience is that I don't have dandruff but my hair gets so itchy to the point where if I don't wash my hair every other day, I cannot sleep. It is awful and embarrassing if I'm around other people in public and can't stop scratching. It makes me feel like I'm a dirty person.

So I bought a medicated shampoo and it has changed my life.

You can get it here!

I personally use this shampoo once every 2 weeks and I no longer have itchy scalp! Yay! You can also follow up with your normal shampoo after using this one if you don't like the smell or have another shampoo that offers additional benefits like volume, for curly hair, sleek & smooth, etc. Even if you don't have visible dandruff, I recommend trying this shampoo out. I don't have visible dandruff at all but I no longer have that terrible itching. I've experimented and have gone 6 days without washing my hair and still no itch.

Even though I only use it twice a month, you'll need to experiment yourself and find the sweet spot for you. But I don't recommend using it every single day. And you'll always want to follow it up with a conditioner.
